First spin!

Photobucket

On the left: My first try at spinning last Saturday
On the right: What I made yesterday

Do you see a difference? I still don't like it but I think I'm at least getting better.

At this rate, it won't take you long to get to something you like!

It looks great! Just think of those expensive thick-and-thin yarns...you've become a pro already! :)

I found spinning much harder than I expected, or than anyone else in my class seemed to. But I stuck to it, practised and got better at it.

But in the end, it never thrilled me like knitting, crochet or weaving does. But I'm stubborn. Only when I could do it well enough did I feel I could justify deciding it wasn't for me!

Hope you enjoy it as you get better, but if you don't then don't let anyone make you feel bad about it.

hey there, hope you don't mind me commenting on your yarn. :) I see real improvement in that second yarn, Caroline. It actually looks very consistent and you should be proud of that! And don't worry too much that it's not perfect... you should have seen my first yarns, they didn't even hold together :) If you're not happy with the consistency, aim first for consistency in your pre-drafting--really try to get that roving (top) to an even thinness before you start, and don't be afraid to pre-draft a lot, so the roving is pretty wispy. Anyway, keep spinning, you're doing great!
